The Illinois Sports Facilities Authority developed U.S. Cellular Field and its surrounding property in the late 1980s and early 1990s to serve as home for the Major League Baseball team Chicago White Sox and as a year-round facility for the citizens of Illinois.
Over the years, the Illinois Sports Facilities Authority has implemented many improvements to the look and feel of the facilities, strengthening it as a world-class venue.
U.S. Cellular Field and its surrounding property can be used and enjoyed by everyone. Children can practice their baseball skills in the kid-friendly Fundamentals area; businesses and non-profit organizations can enjoy the game in Premium Seating; individuals with disabilities can enjoy a wide range of seating options; non-profit, corporate, civic and educational organizations can use the state-of-the-art Conference and Learning Center year-round; and a new major infrastructure project along 35th Street will provide potential retail and restaurant development for the enjoyment of White Sox fans and the entire community.
