Dana Phillips Goodum

Chief Financial Officer

Dana Phillips Goodum, CPA, CGMA serves as the Chief Financial Officer of the Illinois Sports Facilities Authority (Authority).  Ms. Goodum is a financial executive with broad industry expertise in both the public and private sectors.  She is responsible for the Authority’s overall financial management as well as information technology and human resources.  She oversees financial reporting, budgets, audits, insurance, payroll, general and construction accounting, debt financing, and asset, debt, and treasury management.

During her tenure at the Authority, Ms. Goodum has been the primary liaison to the Illinois General Assembly and the Governor’s Office of Management and Budget relative to financial and budgetary concerns.  In 2008, she assisted with restructuring the White Sox agreement to provide guaranteed rent and revenue-sharing enhancements.  In 2014 and 2019, she directed the Authority’s debt restructuring efforts which produced present value interest savings of $16.0 and $36.6 million, respectively.

Prior to joining the Authority, Ms. Goodum served as controller for U.S. and Canadian operations of several companies including CNA Insurance Companies, TALPX, Inc. and Carter & Carter International Inc.  In addition to providing oversight in all aspects of financial operations, human resources, and information technology, she performed operational reviews and valuation analyses, and created profitability models to analyze pricing strategies and productivity.  Ms. Goodum collaborated with a worldwide finance team to launch an initial public offering on the London Stock Exchange, and successfully implemented several financial software system conversions to streamline processes and to enhance reporting capabilities.

Ms. Goodum served at the Metropolitan Pier and Exposition Authority (“MPEA”) as the Director of Finance of Navy Pier.  In anticipation of the official opening of Navy Pier, now the largest tourist attraction in Chicago, she established all financial operations, policies, procedures, and reporting requirements.  Along with the management team, she designed and implemented contract terms, incentives and tenancy requirements for retail operations.  As Manager of Financial Reporting for MPEA, Ms. Goodum managed the financial software system conversion.  The success of this systems implementation was featured in Computerworld magazine.  Working with the construction team, she managed the $1 billion McCormick Place South Expansion capital budget.

Ms. Goodum began her career in public accounting at Arthur Andersen & Co. LLP after earning a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accountancy from the University of Notre Dame.  She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Illinois Society of Certified Public Accountants, the Government Finance Officers Association, the Society for Human Resource Management, and the Notre Dame Alumni Club of Chicago.  She is a former Board member of Josephinum Academy.  Ms. Goodum resides with her family in the city of Chicago.
